BLACK MEN

“To be sure, I had, and have, spent the better part of my post-college life growing up in the public eye, with my shameful warts, big and ugly, looming there for the world to see; and it has been a mighty battle trying to be a man, a Black man, a human being, a responsible and consistent human being, as I have interfaced with my past and with my personal demons, with friends and lovers, with enemies and haters. As Tupac Shakur once famously said to me, “There is no placed called careful.” On the one hand, Tupac was right: There is not much room for error in America if you are a Black male in a society ostensibly bent on profiling your every move, eager to capitalize on your falling into this or that trap, particularly keen to swoop down on your self-inflicted mishaps. But by the same token, Tupac was wrong: There can be a place called careful, once one becomes aware of the world one lives in, its potential, its limitations, and if one is willing to struggle to create a new model, some new and alternative space outside and away from the larger universe, where one can be free enough to comprehend that even if the world seems aligned against you, you do not have to give the world the rope to hang you with.”― Kevin Powell

Black Men in Prison is it God's Will?

"Those Black preachers who subscribe to predestination 'God's Will' must also believe that God is just 'right' when it comes to the racist disproportionate warehousing of Black men in prison; thus God has racistly willed millions of Black men to end up in jails and prisons? Is this the fatalistic reason why most Black preachers do very little for Black men to prevent them from being incarcerated? " - CNK

We Aint Got to Much to Say About Racist White Male Terror

Black men does the cold-blooded white male supremacist act of mass murder terror in Buffalo have us traumatized consciously or unconsciously? Are we trying to deny or avoid addressing the trauma? Is the trauma preventing us from commenting, remarking, and posting about it? Or is it just a case of "staying out of white folks business."

Kevin Samuels a Controversial Black Man to Many Black Women

 by KenRay SunYaRu

Recently Kevin Samuels a super-popular and controversial Black male YouTube relationship coach died.

Indeed Samuels was controversial to many Black women because he exposed and challenged their narrow relationship notions; he countered their unrealistic thinking and double-standards; he pushed back against Black male bashing and women's truth that in relationship failures that they are always just innocent victims.

Many Black men in the 'manosphere' who supported Samuels felt he said some truthful things about Black women that made them feel very uncomfortable; that he challenged women's lop-sided narrative and blame-game; he questioned and showed them that they are often the problem.

When it was announced that Samuels had died many-many Black women celebrated his death, actress Vivica Fox called "Samuels’ death karma payback."

Let me say this to all the Miss Fox types, all of my life I've seen way too many Black women 'forgive' racist hate-filled police and white supremacists who murdered their Black fathers, brothers, sons, husbands, boyfriends, nephews, male cousins and friends.

In contrast I've seen way too many Black women carry 'no forgiveness' ongoing hatred against Black men for relationship failures or who were critical of their behavior whether justified or not.

Can I get an explanation for the drastic difference?

On Black Fatherhood

“Black Fatherhood is an incomparable gift to Black men that truly comprehend what it means to be called dad, daddy, father, or pops. What a privilege it is to raise a child with patience, understanding, communication, support, encouragement, friendship, guidance, and unconditional love. It is an absolute honor!” - Stephanie Lahart

May is Mental Health Month: Black Men Stop Frontin!

by Kenny Anderson

Black men we gotta stop fronting when it comes to our massive mental health problems.
Under white supremacy we are their number #1 enemy; we have been systematically repressed 'kept down' so why wouldn't we be 'Depressed'; we have been systematically attacked and marginalized so why wouldn't we have problems with 'Anxiety' and 'Continuing Traumatic Stress Disorder' (CTSD); Black-on-Black male violence highly contributes to CTSD.
Indeed racial oppression is the major cause of Black men's mental health problems; we suffer from the mental and emotional distress affects of external and internalized oppression. Black men in keeping it real '100' when we are physically out of shape, we'll say I need to workout; go to the gym and get in some shape 'physical fitness'.
Yes Black men keeping it '100' we've been 'self-medicating' masking our mental health problems for generations with alcohol and drugs; yes Black men are minds are out of shape 'warped, wounded' and and we need some 'mental healing fitness'. So let us get to working-out getting our MINDS RIGHT!!

Black Men and Chronic Stress

 by KenRay SunYaru

I remember growing up as a Black boy I would often hear older Black men say "stress will bust a steel pipe." As I grew, matured, and experienced the full weight of racism in America I felt and understood clearly the earlier remark in my life that stress will bust a pipe.
Yes for Black men America means STRESS! Yes and nobody is really concerned about our STRESS! My whole life I've witnessed the debilitating affects of chronic stress on Black men that causes them to be like Rice Krispies going "snap, crackle, and pop."
I've learned in my life that a lot of the dumb shit 'costly decisions' Black men make like substance abuse, criminal activities, violence, babies from womanizing, and other self-defeating problems were decided under the influence of chronic stress producing 'duress'.
I've also learned that most Black men lack stress management skills; too often Black men are constantly reacting to stress, driven by stress; instead of managing stress, stress is managing 'controlling' them.
Being under stress control keeps Black men's blood pressure elevated, nervous system amplified, and anxiety levels intensified causing so many Black men to super-disproportionately have high blood pressure 'hypertension' and to suffer massively from strokes and heart attacks.
Black men it's a 'health necessity' that we learn about and practice positive stress-management as a very significant healing intervention tool in lowering chronic disease risks and preventing premature deaths.
